Step 1: Cleanse

This might seem like an obvious step but in the same way that we cleanse our faces, our bodies need a gentle, effective cleanser to remove dirt, sweat, and impurities. Pick a cleanser depending on your skin type or skin concerns. For example, if you’re prone to acne you might want to consider an antibacterial cleanser, or cleansers with chemicals exfoliants such as salicylic acid.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliating is the key to smooth, soft skin, but don’t overdo it! You should aim to exfoliate once or twice a week. Opt for a physical scrub if you think your skin can handle it. However, we prefer exfoliants with AHAs or BHAs like salicylic acid or glycolic acid that will remove dead skin cells, bumpy textures or discoloration on your skin

Step 3: Treat and moisturize

If you have specific skin concerns like dryness, discoloration, or keratosis pilaris, try using a serum that will tackle those concerns. For example, vitamin C to brighten the skin or glycolic acid for discoloration and texture. Follow with a moisturizer to restore hydration or even better use a moisturizer with extra ingredients like niacinamide, vitamin C, or others.

Step 5: Sunscreen

Yes, sunscreen! The final step is all about protecting your skin. UV rays are one of the main reasons for skin aging and skin damage. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and this will help you prevent hyperpigmentation and even skin cancer. Make sure you don’t skin this step if you’re using AHAs or BHAs in the AM! The sun can react with those ingredients and create further discoloration.

And there you have it! A super-easy, everyday body skincare routine that covers all the basics. Try these simple steps and your skin will thank you! Remember that self care is not only about looking good, but also about feeling good. Listen to your skin and do what’s best for you. Happy pampering!
